The Vortex Herd is located in the village Martinstown, near the south coast of Dorset in the UK. Visitors are always welcome.
The Vortex prefix was started in 1978 with 100 pedigree friesian cattle. In the 1980's the decision to move to Holstein sires was made. Since then the herd has grown to 430 with 230 milking cows. The focus has always been to breed practical hard working cattle that will perform well in a commercial environment. Our overall breeding goal is to produce the type of cow that will last at least 5 lactations and produce 60 tonnes of milk in a lifetime.
